Experience Old Florida charm in Boynton Beach, where cozy restaurants and boutiques line walkable Ocean Avenue and canopy-covered walkways lead to warm sea breezes and a wide stretch of sand at Oceanfront Park. (Don’t miss the giant blue sea turtle sculpture and life-size chess board near the concession stand.)
Each October, Ocean Avenue transforms for the Haunted Pirate Fest and Mermaid Splash. (Speaking of jolly buccaneers, there may be a few hanging around the city’s Harbor Marina, where scenic dockside restaurants serve up frosty tropical libations.) Outside of downtown, more retail therapy awaits along the Congress Avenue corridor and Renaissance Commons, while the taproom at Due South Brewing Company opens for tours and tastings of locally made craft brews.
Ready to get out on the water? Beaches like Oceanfront Park are some of the prettiest in the area, with access to coral and artificial reefs. Jaycee Park hugs the Intracoastal Waterway with easy access for canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. (Keep an eye out for the chance to spot manatees, who frequent the mangrove areas here.) Or stop by Gulfstream Park which extends from the ocean to the intracoastal waterway. Enjoy a shaded picnic area, playground and a few nice areas where you can take a nap or read a book.
For even more natural pursuits, head to the Everglades and the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge, where you can paddle through sawgrass marsh and spot birds, gators and other wildlife. On land, ranger-led tours and hiking trails traverse one-of-a-kind terrain. This preserve rests on 143,954 acres of land including 400 acres of cypress swamp, one of the largest remaining cypress swamps in the eastern Everglades. With over 250 species of birds calling Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge home, this is the perfect area for bird watching.

Boynton Beach, Florida is known for its stunning beaches, particularly the picture-perfect Ocean Inlet Park.
Boynton Beach has quite a few beaches, the most famous being Ocean Inlet Park and Ocean Front Beach Park. You could easily spend the entire day suntanning, swimming, and shelling at either of these spots.
Despite its beautiful beaches, Boynton Beach somehow remains relatively uncrowded.
Like many of the cities in Florida’s Palm Beaches, Boynton Beach doesn’t have an official downtown. But in this particular town, almost all of the best shopping and dining can be found along U.S. Highway 1.

The Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in Boynton Beach is home to the one-mile Cypress Swamp Boardwalk.

Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) is just 14 miles from Boynton Beach. If that particular airport doesn’t work for your needs, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Miami International Airport (MIA) are both relatively close as well.
There are two main public transportation options that service the town of Boynton Beach, Florida: Palm Tran and Tri-Rail. Palm Tran is a bus system that runs through all of Palm Beach County (and a little bit beyond), including Boynton Beach. Tri-Rail is a convenient commuter rail line that runs all the way from Miami, through Boynton Beach Station, and up to Riviera Beach.
For sunny skies and pleasant temperatures, winter is undoubtedly the best time to visit Boynton Beach.
Many Native American tribes, including the Ais, the Jaega, and the Tequestas, called Boynton Beach their home for hundreds of years. Then, in the late 1800s, European settlers began to make the area their home as well. But it took over 100 years before the Town of Boynton became an incorporated community in 1920.
You certainly won’t want to miss out on Boynton Beach’s shorelines while you’re in town. Ocean Inlet Park and Ocean Front Beach Park are two spots that you definitely have to visit. These postcard-worthy beaches should be on every Florida bucket list.
But the beaches aren’t all that Boynton Beach has to offer. Head to Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge for calming nature trails, jaw-dropping sunsets, and loads of wildlife.
