Meetings Mean Business: Global Meetings Industry Day 2017

The Discover Staff along with other hospitality and tourism organizations attended Global Meetings Industry Day on April 6th at the Margaritaville Beach Resort. This national event helps shine a spotlight on the economic power that meetings generate in our community.

On April 19th partners gathered at the Riviera Beach Marina Village Event Center to network and enjoy lunch. Twenty-nine of our attractions partners had vendor tables that the rest of our partners could visit and learn from! Great connections were made and we thank all of our partners for helping to make this event a success.

The new burger shack features a fresh expanded menu by Chef Danny and a wine menu that includes 25 bottles to choose from as well as an additional 12 locally crafted beers on tap and another 25 in the bottle. The new restaurant features a 3,500-gallon fish tank as the backdrop along with 15 flat-screen TVs for watching games that will provide an unrivaled outdoor tropical experience for guests. Yelp’s Restaurant Week Coming to Palm Beach May 7 – 13th

Restaurant Week will spotlight many exceptional restaurants in Palm Beach County. Participating restaurants will set a discount for Yelpers, and Yelp Broward-Palm Beach will promote this deal to the entire Yelp community, to get some new customers through your doors and more eyes on your business. For this promotion, they ask restaurants to create a check-in offer of 30% off the total bill.

Presidential Suite at the Chesterfield gets a New Look

The Chesterfield recently unveiled its refurbished Presidential Suite as part of a series of renovations to the boutique hotel. Formerly known as The Penthouse, the one-bedroom suite is accessed by a winding staircase on a separate floor. Beatrice Tollman, president of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection, and Toni Tollman, director of design, headed the project executed by Brian Brennan and a team of designers.

From January to March 2017 Occupancy was 83.9% ranking 3nd in the State. Room nights sold has grown by 2.5% ranking 6th in the State. ADR was $232 and RevPAR was $194 both measures moving up from 4th, just behind The Keys and Naples. Thanks to all our partners for delivering exceptional experiences and reaffirming our brand promise.

For the Month of March:

  • Room nights sold increased by 5.2% ranking 4th
  • Average Daily Rate was $244

RevPAR was up 3% to $214, ranking 3rd in the state

This past month our Leisure Sales team attended WTM Sao Paulo as well as had a Brazil sales mission. They networked with tour operators from the Latin American Market.

This month, the Public Relations department hosted five media representatives and contributors representing outlets such as Orlando4You (Brazil), Atlanta 365, Traveling Mom, Luxe Recess, Canadian Geographic, and Montreal Gazette. They also assisted and met with national and international reporters covering President Trump's visit to The Palm Beaches, including Chinese Central Television (CCTV), the world's leading broadcast network, and CNBC.

In addition, the team held desk sides in the Orlando, Tampa and Miami markets, meeting with media influencers who contribute to outlets such as Yahoo! Travel, Destination Luxury, Central Florida Lifestyle, USAToday.com, Travel Weekly, Tampa Bay Metro Magazine and Tampa Bay Weddings.

Distributed press releases included: Meetings Mean Business in The Palm Beaches, the Providencia Award Announcement release, and the Underwater Treasures in The Palm Beaches. In our Canadian market, we distributed an Affordability release, while in the United Kingdom our focus was on Adult-friendly offerings, and in Brazil our focus was on Romance. Blog posts this month touched on the LGBT market, Grown-up Fun, Underwater Treasures and Mini Golf.
