Village of Golf

Unique Golfing Community

A village with the perfect blend of ambience, socialization, and relaxation.

A tranquil municipality with country club, golf course, and agricultural as well as residential properties. Tradition and history lay a foundation for character, but the true account of its beauty is in its overall ambience of paradise and relaxation.

The Village of Golf began in 1957 when Robert Harris, a well-known golf course architect, scoped out the perfect piece of land (a dairy farm) for his next project. As the founder of the village, Carleton Blunt was the one to make Harris’ dream a reality and form a picturesque landscape, rife with endless entertainment, socialization and beauty. Today, The Village of Golf’s unique aura, atmosphere and history of companionship set it apart from other cities in Southern Florida.

The Country Club of Florida is the highlight of the Village of Golf and is key to its success. The club opened its doors on December 1, 1956, and rapidly became a nation-wide attraction. The club went on to host several championships including the Western Golf Association’s 56th Western Amateur Championship in 1958, the 1960 National Mixed Foursome Championship and the 1963 USGA Senior Women’s Amateur Championship. A sterling silver milk can was presented to the champions as a symbol of its historical roots. One of the early guests of this promising golf course was the Duke of Windsor.

In 1983, a contract was awarded to Arthur Hill to remodel the golf course and a second renovation was completed by Lester George in 2006. While routing sequences remained, ponds and bunkers were enlarged to provide for more captivating views throughout the course. The Country Club of Florida was the first club in Florida to host the Western Junior Amateur Championship.
