Cox Science Center & Aquarium

 
Accessibility information: 

  • The Cox Science Center & Aquarium is equipped to accommodate visitors with physical disabilities. All exhibits and spaces are wheelchair accessible, except for the Observatory which has several options to accommodate guests. 
  • Wheelchairs are available free of charge. 
  • The Center host Sensory Saturdays on the 1st Saturday of each month from 9:00 – 10:00 am. 
  • Quieter times: Saturday and Sunday mornings from 10:00 – 11:00 am and weekday afternoons after 2:00 pm (during school year) are often less busy, quieter times to visit. September is usually a less busy, quieter time of year to visit.
  • Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are located throughout the building. They are all sensory-friendly and DO NOT have hand dryers or auto-flush mechanisms. 
  • Light, noise, and crowds vary widely throughout the building.

Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society

 
Accessibility information: 

  • Wheelchairs are available to rent for $10 daily. Rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Palm Beach Zoo allows “service animals” as described in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Please note, “assistance animals” are not within the scope of the ADA definition and are not permitted in the Zoo.
  • Service animals MUST be declared to the guest services staff before entry and always remain on a short leash. Service animals are not permitted in our free-flight aviaries.

Lion Country Safari

 
Accessibility information: 

  • Lion Country Safari is mostly handicap accessible with a few exceptions. 
  • In the drive-through section, you will be in your own vehicle or in a rental van. 
  • The walk-through area is either concrete walkways or boardwalks and there are no stairs. 
  • To access the picnic area, you will have to go over a short grassy area. 
  • The petting zoo is served by paved walkways which are wheelchair accessible; however, there is a double gate system to keep the animals in, which would require some assistance to wheelchair users.

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary

 
Accessibility information: 

  • Busch Wildlife Sanctuary offers large print maps and braille books in the welcome center.
  • The entire sanctuary has flat walkways and ramps, making it wheelchair accessible.
  • The center occasionally organizes American Sign Language (ASL) programs. Interpretation provided by Sign of Excellence. Upcoming ASL programs:

Loggerhead Marinelife Center

 
Accessibility information:

  • Loggerhead Marinelife Center offers accessible tours to connect underserved and underrepresented groups to ocean conservation and appreciation.  
  • In collaboration with Clinics Can Help, a nonprofit that serves people with disabilities, LMC recently acquired a second beach wheelchair for use in the Turtle Walk, Hatchling Release, and Sunrise Nest Excavation programs. 
  • The Center has sensory backpacks available for checkout at the welcome desk, which include headphones, sunglasses, gloves, fidget spinners, and communication boards.
  • Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s Sensory Saturdays is an opportunity for adults and children on the autism spectrum that are looking for a more inclusive experience while visiting the facility with their friends, families and caregivers. During these hours, guests will be able to explore the outdoor hospital and indoor exhibits with reduced lighting and sounds.
  • Loggerhead Marinelife Center is now offering American Sign Language tours in addition to their regularly scheduled daily tours for guests visiting the Center.
  • American Sign Language tours are available to anyone interested in an ASL guided experience of Loggerhead Marinelife Center. ASL tours are available by request and led by an ASL-fluent guide.
  • Those interested in a tour should register in advance as availability is limited. ASL tours are offered by request seven days a week during the Center’s normal operating hours. ASL guided tours last about one hour and are $10 per person with a five-person or $50 minimum.

Accessibility information:

  • Sensory Friendly Browsing Hour: The library is designating a sensory hour on Saturdays from 10:00-11:00 am at locations throughout the county to provide an opportunity for special needs families to browse the library in a calm, judgment-free environment. Opportunities include using the computer, getting a library card, and assistance from staff to find exactly what you’re looking for! More information here.
  • Assisted Listening Devices are available at several locations.
  • Closed-caption DVDs and videos are available for loan at all locations. DVDs in our general collection, including foreign films, have the option of being played with English subtitles.
  • The library offers Full-length ASL movies in our general collection.

Accessibility information:
The Downtown West Palm Beach Food Tour is entirely wheelchair accessible. Although it is a walking tour, all the sidewalks in downtown have ramps.

Mounts Botanical Garden

Accessibility information:

  • FREE use of special Mounts Sensory Backpacks for both children and adult visitors with sensory sensitivities. Each waterproof backpack contains calming tools to help visitors with sensory sensitivities adjust to new faces, new activities, bright lights, a range of noise levels, and more. Sensory tools include noise-cancelling headphones, polarized sunglasses, and a variety of fidget toys and devices. Visitors can check-out a Mounts Sensory Backpack by leaving their driver license at the Welcome Center, which will be returned after their Garden tour. Each backpack and its content will be thoroughly disinfected with alcohol between each use.

Museums


Henry Morrison Flagler Museum

 
Accessibility information:

  • Accessible parking is located near the Museum entrance.
  • Visitors using mobility devices and aids may gain access to Whitehall through the Museum’s accessible entrance located on the south side of the property. 
  • Permanent ramps and an elevator have been installed.
  • Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are located on the first floor of Whitehall and in the Flagler Kenan Pavilion. 
  • The museum offers self-directed audio guides (Telecoil enabled), written brochures in multiple languages, Docent-led tours that utilize a group guide system for amplification, and a smartphone app (Bluetooth enabled). 
  • A closed caption video is playing outside of Railcar No. 91, as an alternative option for visitors who cannot safely board Railcar No. 91. 
  • Service animals are always welcomed; depending on the visitor’s needs, service animals may be carried or outfitted with a harness or leash.

  • Accessible parking spaces are available in the Northwest Drop-off area.

  • Seating is available in many galleries. 
  • All restrooms are fully accessible.

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum

 
Accessibility information:

  • Accessible parking is located near the entrance.
  • A wheelchair ramp accesses the Admissions & Gift Shop facility.
  • Grounds restrooms are accessible.
  • A wide brick pathway winds around the Tindall Pioneer Homestead, Seminole Chickee and Native American Kiosks. 
  • A ramp equipped with handrails provides access to the Tindall Pioneer Homestead exhibit.
  • A base tour to the Lighthouse tower is available.
  • The Lighthouse deck is wheelchair accessible and provides access to view the Keepers Workshop, Banyan Tree, Cistern, and view of the Jupiter Inlet and Lighthouse grounds.
  • Certain historic areas of the light station are accessible only by stairs, including the Lighthouse tower. Upon request at the registration desk, materials describing the climb and tower top views will be provided to non-climbing visitors. 
  • Trained Service Animals are permitted on tour and in the Museum. However, because of safety issues, animals are not permitted to ascend the Lighthouse Tower. Service Animals should remain on a leash or harness at all times and remain under the handler’s control.

Boca Raton Museum of Art

  • An ADA-accessible doorway is located to the right of the main lobby doors. 
  • The elevator is located at the end of the Grand Hall, across from the stairs.
  • Handicapped parking is available at no charge with a valid handicapped placard in specially designated spaces located along the plaza and parking garages within Mizner Park. 
  • Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are located on both levels of the Museum. 
  • Service animals are welcomed in the museum galleries and sculpture garden during museum hours.
  • All galleries and facilities are wheelchair accessible.

  •  Morikami is wheelchair accessible, but wheelchairs are not provided.
  • A push button is available to automatically open the main entrance door.
  • The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is predominately ADA accessible in all areas of the Museum and areas closest to the Main Museum. The garden path consists of compacted natural material and may not be suitable to every visitor’s ability. 
  • Wheelchairs with larger than standard tires are recommended.
  • Park benches are located throughout the gardens for all visitors’ comfort.
  • Accessible parking is located near the museum’s main entrance.
  • Ramp access to the gardens is located at the south end of the Cornell Café.
  • The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens accepts service animals as defined by the ADA.

  • Assistance is provided upon request from the greeters located at each gate or by visiting the Cleveland Clinic Information Booth.
  • A drop-off area is located directly in front of the stadium outside of Gate B.
  • Parking is available directly in front and along the side of the stadium (Main Street), as well as in the Abacoa parking garage (west of the stadium) and the front of both grass parking lots (Parkside Drive and Stadium Drive).
  • Wheel-accessible seating is located in the following sections: 101, 102, 110-116, 123 and 124. Please notify the Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium Ticket Office at (561) 630- 1828 or upon purchase of tickets.
  • Trained animals for disabled guests are allowed on Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches

 
Accessibility information:

  • Wheelchair-accessible seating is located in the following sections: 100, 105, 104, 108, 110, 113, 118, Field Box and Lawn. Accessible seating can be purchased online or over the phone at 561.500.4487.
  • Approximately three hundred (300) accessible parking spaces are available at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches. Accessible Parking is available from the Haverhill Road entrance in all three paved lots.
  • The ADA drop-off is located near parking lots A and B. This can be accessed by entering at the Main Entrance from Haverhill Road. Drivers should proceed to the parking attendant near the main entrance and they will direct the driver to the appropriate drop-off location.
  • Accessible ramps to the 3rd Base Plaza Gate are located at each end of the west concourse walkway. Ramps are accessible from Astros and Nationals Spring Training Gate entrances.
  • Assistance is provided upon request from the greeters located at each gate or by visiting the Guest Services Booth.

Performing Arts


The Kravis Center for The Performing Arts

 
Accessibility information:

  • Each of the venues within the facility is wheelchair accessible and offers a variety of services to accommodate those with disabilities.
  • All Kravis Center entries are accessible to wheelchair users.
  • Parking spaces for our guests with disabilities are located on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of the parking garage, the closest parking to our garage elevators and the covered walkway to the theaters. Additional spaces designated for disabled drivers are located on each floor of the garage. 
  • Service animals are welcome inside the Kravis Center building and must always remain on a leash or in a harness. If you intend to bring a service animal to a performance, please notify the customer service representative at the time of purchase so that they can identify the most suitable seating location for you.
  • Accessible seating is available for all shows on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to mention your need for wheelchair-accessible seating or other accommodations when placing your ticket order. Guests are encouraged to bring their own wheelchairs.
  • The Kravis Center is equipped with four large elevators located on the east and west sides of the lobby. Controls are designated in Braille.
  • With the exception of the balcony, there are restrooms on all levels of the Kravis Center that contain facilities for our guests with disabilities. Signage on all restrooms is designated in Braille.
  • A state-of-the-art, infrared audio enhancement system is available for the hearing impaired during all performances in Dreyfoos Hall, the Rinker Playhouse and Persson Hall. Assistive Listening Devices are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • The Kravis Center provides open captioning for the first Saturday matinee performances of Kravis On Broadway presentations. Live performance Captioning (or open captioning) is a text display located on the side of the stage that scrolls words in synchronization with the performance. Reserved seats for people with hearing loss will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are in need of this service, please alert the Box Office when ordering tickets.
  • Sign language interpreters are provided at Sunday matinee performances of Kravis On Broadway presentations.
  • Large print programs are available for most Kravis Center presentations and may be picked up at the Guest Services Desk located in the lobby.
