June 14, 2021

The Palm Beaches offer not only dazzling, sandy beaches but an array of diverse-owned businesses.

The Palm Beaches have no shortage of incredible beaches and activities for an ideal vacation, but there’s also a range of diversely owned restaurants, boutiques, museums, event venues, art galleries and so much more. Check out some of the best spots in The Palm Beaches with owners from the BIPOC community.

Hangouts & Culture

Sugar Plum & the Grumbling Growler
In downtown Lake Worth Beach, husband and wife Tanya & Nicholas Yalley opened Sugar Plum & the Grumbling Growler. This venue, located west of the railroad tracks on Lucerne Avenue, serves as a hangout spot for local artists and creatives. The couple has fostered an environment of inclusion and belonging and encourages all guests to explore their creative side. You can catch a live musical performance by a local musician or participate in a live painting class. Recently, the destination is offering yoga classes along with dance classes in heels and Afro beats sessions. There is also space for local writers to meet up and share their work.

This Black-owned gem, also in Lake Worth Beach, hosts book readings from both local and nationally recognized authors. Cozy and warm, the SPGG Book Shop encourages community and hosts a book club on Saturday afternoons. If you’re looking for a place to play a quick Nintendo game or test your trivia knowledge while enjoying a craft beer, the SPGG Game Lounge is next door.
