National Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized each year across the United States from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. There are many ways to celebrate the contributions and influences of the Hispanic communities in The Palm Beaches throughout the year, but in September and October, don’t miss out on these festive and educational events!
Spanish Conversation Group – Sept. 7, 21
Join this informal conversation group every first and third Wednesday of the month to practice your Spanish language fluency. A facilitator will bring topics and discussion questions to get the conversation flowing. Intermediate Spanish skills are required. No registration required. Family Storytime Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month – Sept. 14
The Mandel Public Library in West Palm Beach is organizing an educational event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Bilingual Storytime! For families with children up to 5 years old. Join Ms. Claudia for music and movement, songs, rhymes, art, and of course, great books in Spanish and English. Space is limited, and in-person sign-up begins in KidSpace at 9:30 am. Luis Manuel & The Charambo Band | Classic Salsa & Cuban Son – Sept. 15
This special Clematis by Night event will feature Luis Manuel and The Charambo Band. Considered one of the best big Salsa bands in Florida, the band includes 8 highly talented musicians performing Classic Salsa with a touch of Cuban Son, and more. You may bring blankets and chairs.

“Going Places” Exhibit by the Historical Society of Palm Beach County – Sept. 15 - Dec. 30
The Historical Society of Palm Beach County celebrates Hispanic Heritage by bringing attention to the achievements of Palm Beach County’s Hispanic community leaders. The exhibit “Going Places” looks at the lives of nine heroes of the local Hispanic and Latino community, four of whom will participate in a Panel Discussion on Sept. 28. The other five featured in the exhibit are Rolando Chang Barrero, owner of The Box Gallery; The Caridad Center; Adriana Gonzalez, Esq. of Gonzalez & Cartwright, P.A.; The Reyes Family, owners of Havana Restaurant; and Dina Rubio, owner of Don Ramon Cuban Cuisine and Social Club. The exhibit is presented in English and Spanish through December 30, 2022.

Raul Gallimore y Su Orquestra Inmensidad – Sept. 17
With all of their greatest hits from the Fania Records days, Raul Gallimore y Su Orquesta Inmensidad will take you down memory lane where it all began. The band will play some of the best tunes from the 80s & 90s from NY Palladium, remembering the days when the Orquesta Inmensidad was the first to create what was identified as “Erotic Salsa.” The band’s most recent production is called Positivo, released in 2019 and contains 8 songs, mostly originals.

Salsa Palooza at The Kravis Center – Sept. 17
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and National Dance Day with an evening of salsa hits at the Kravis Center for The Performing Arts! SalsaPalooza presents salsa musicians: Charlie Cruz, Norberto Vélez of NG2 and headliner Andy Montañez, “El Godfather de la Salsa” and veteran member of legendary El Gran Combo. With Special Guest Robert Vilera!

Mikey's Hotswing Latin Band – Sept. 17
The City of Wellington honors Hispanic Heritage Month with a free event on September 17 from 6 pm to 10 pm. The International Latin tropical band will perform cover and original music with a Latin twist starting from 7:30 pm. Bring your own blankets or chairs for seating!
Food trucks on site from 6 pm!

Hispanic Heritage Story Time & Yoga, Sept. 17
The Square in West Palm Beach is teaming up with Si Merci to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Join a fun-filled morning of culture and movement for families. This kid-focused event is best for K-12 with parents welcomed. Free to attend; Registration is required.

Sunday on The Waterfront: The Noctámbulo Band – Sept. 18
Sunday on the Waterfront is the coolest scene in downtown West Palm Beach. This FREE family-friendly concert series is held year-round on the third Sunday of each month and features a variety of national and regional recording artists.
This September, celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Sunday on the Waterfront! The Noctámbulo Band is a high-energy band of talented, creative musicians from Cuba, Colombia, and Puerto Rico. Performing at the crossroads where salsa meets Latin jazz, the band performs throughout South Florida and beyond, playing classics ranging from the 70’s to modern hits. Frontman Luis Manuel, a unique and versatile sonero, will keep the crowd up and dancing all night long with his magical sound.

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers: Hispanic Heritage in Action – Sept. 21
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers began organizing in 1993 to discuss how to better their community and their lives. Since then, they have grown into a human rights organization internationally recognized for their achievements in fighting human trafficking and gender-based violence at work. Their Fair Food Program has become a model for worker-driven social responsibility. Learn more about this regional history in the making, grassroots leadership, and how you can support justice today. Acrylic Painting Class – Sept. 21, Oct. 19

Loggerhead Marinelife Center Tour de Basura – Sept. 24
Mark your calendar, grab a bucket, and meet at a beach near you for a cleanup! In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and International Coastal Cleanup month, Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) is launching “Tour de Basura.” Meet at the Ocean Walk Beach Access Point on Singer Island and help clean our beautiful beaches. Participants will be provided all materials needed to remove beach debris, which will be sorted and analyzed according to best practices administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Ocean Conservancy.
“Tour de Basura” is part of the initiative “Tour de Trash,” an event organized by the LMC marine to remove debris from several beaches on South Florida’s East Coast. Read more about “Tour De Debris” here.

Nuestra Cultura Community Day, Oct. 1
This Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrate the rich, diverse, and long-standing traditions and cultures from across Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean at the Norton Museum of Art. Highlights of this free celebration include:
- A marketplace with Hispanic and Latino shops, artworks, and organizations in the gardens
- A lotería with prices
- Art activities: learn how to make your own mini piñata, and make your own Guatemalan “quitapenas” doll
- Spanish-language tours: learn about art in the collection during Spanish-language tours at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm, and during gallery talks throughout the afternoon.
- Music and dance throughout the day.
Food will be available for purchase from the Restaurant.

Salsa Dance Lessons – Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26

Family Studio / Latinx Heritage Month – Oct. 8
Get inspired by the works of Hispanic artists in the Museum’s collection, such as Picasso, Miro, Sorolla and Bedia. Then, explore a variety of painting techniques and themes used by each artist. Children ages 5-12 and their accompanying grown-ups participate in a gallery experience, followed by a related art workshop.
Space is limited to 17 visitors.

“What’s Your Story?” Record to Remember – Oct. 12
Learn how to use our audio equipment to record your story and share your culture during Hispanic Heritage Month! Friday with the Friends Book Club – Oct. 14
Join the Friends of the Mandel Public Library and other book lovers every second Friday of the month for a lively discussion of selected books. October’s book will be “Dominicana” by Angie Cruz. Fifteen-year-old Ana Cancion must marry a man twice her age, who will take her from the Dominican countryside to New York City. Their marriage is an opportunity for her entire close-knit family to eventually immigrate. Lonely and miserable there, Ana hatches a reckless plan to escape. But at the bus terminal, she is stopped by her husband’s free-spirited younger brother, who convinces her to stay. He allows her to start imagining the possibility of a different kind of life in America. And then she must decide once again between her heart and her duty to her family. Latin Quarter WPB Fiesta – Oct. 15
The Latin Quarter WPB Fiesta recognizes the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of The Palm Beaches. The event will include food, music, dancing, games, kids activities, dominos, putt-putt golf, a parade and much more! The Parade starts at Bunker Rd and Dixie Hwy-WPB and ends at The Festival at Phipps Park across from St. Juliana.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, kids in grades K-3 are invited to read and discuss the book “A Song of Frutas” by Margarita Engle. A little girl helps her abuela who is a pregonero, or singing fruit vendor, to sell fresh fruits in the market. The two sing and dance through the neighborhood and meet new people.
