Six Things to Know for a Boca Getaway...Plus the Extra Point (or Two)

With The Palm Beaches and Boca Raton as your host for the annual Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl, and since touchdowns are worth six points, here are six things to know for your Boca getaway … and an extra one or two.

1. It’s Easy to Fly or Drive to Boca
Boca Raton sits along the Atlantic Ocean at the southern end(zone) of The Palm Beaches.
It’s about 20 miles from Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), and Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is not much farther away. To drive in is just as easy—use either Interstate 95 or Florida’s Turnpike.

Boca Raton Resort & Club

2. The Biggest Hotel in The Palm Beaches
Since 1926, the sprawling, 1,000-room Boca Raton Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort has dazzled while splashed in Boca pink. Stay oceanfront in the picturesque tower, or the historic Cloister. This hotel is a guaranteed first down.

Boca Center

3. Shop, Shop, and Then Shop Some More… Way More
Leave extra luggage space and take your pick; there’s no penalty for doing too much shopping. Start at Mizner Park in downtown Boca Raton, then head over to Town Center Mall and the Shops at Boca Center, both near Glades Road.

Boca Raton Museum of Art

4. Boca Raton Museum of Art
Intimate, stylish and uniquely filled with tremendous artwork and traveling exhibits, the Boca Raton Museum of Art is one of the best ways to score points satisfying your artistic side.

5. The Beaches
Where do Boca locals do the beach? It’s a secret no more, go to South Inlet and Spanish River Park. Either one is excellent for family fun, surfing, and soaking up the sun—this is where you take a timeout.

6. Special Events
Do a samba touchdown dance during Brazilian Beat, or watch PGA legends hit the sweet spot at the Allianz Championship. The Boca Bacchanal has delicious gourmet food and drink, and you can also delight in a cultural celebration at Festival of the Arts BOCA. See all the events Boca has to offer.

The Extra Point
One of the most incredible things to do in The Palm Beaches is to go on a sea turtle walk. Throughout the summer, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center offers guided tours to see these endangered marine creatures come onshore to dig their nests in the sand.

...Or Go for Two
Don’t forget college football’s Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl is Dec. 18 at FAU Stadium.
