Learn more about our latest exhibitionHapa.me, with the artist and curator, Kip Fulbeck. Fulbeck has photographed thousands of people, inviting them to define themselves in their own words and with their own handwriting. In this energetic and entertaining artist talk, Fulbeck shares some of his behind-the-scenes experiences working with these individuals showing some never-before-seen images and extrapolating how these stories reflect our contemporary world.

Kip Fulbeckhas exhibited and performed in over 20 countries and has been featured on CNN, MTV,The TODAY Show,The New York Times,Voice of America, and numerous NPR programs. He is the author of six books includingPart Asian, 100% Hapaand the exhibition artist ofPerseverance: Japanese Tattoo Tradition in a Modern World.Fulbeck teaches as a Distinguished Professor of Art at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received the Faculty Diversity Award and the Distinguished Teaching Award, and has been named an Outstanding Faculty Member five times. A complete overachiever despite being only part-Chinese, he is also an avid surfer, guitar player, ocean lifeguard, tropical fish enthusiast, and multiple-time national champion in U.S. Masters Swimming.
