If The Palm Beaches are Florida’s Golf CapitalⓇ, then Palm Beach Gardens is the jewel in the crown. This is, after all, the hometown of The Professional Golfers Association of America. Just inland from the coast (but still close enough to smell the ocean air), Palm Beach Gardens invites you to walk in the footsteps of legends on some of the best courses in the game.
At the storied PGA National Resort, you’ll find five championship courses that are as challenging as they are picturesque. The Champion – first designed by Tom and George Fazio and recently reimagined by Jack Nicklaus (The Golden Bear) – ranks as the most difficult course in Florida. Each winter, the course draws the world’s top players to compete in the Honda Classic, a premier event on the PGA TOUR. The course is infamous for its challenging three-hole stretch – The Bear Trap – named after Nicklaus himself.
Shop like a pro in Palm Beach Gardens, with a retail scene that rivals the golf. The Gardens Mall has high-end department stores and runway-ready designer labels, while the open-air Downtown at the Gardens offers more than 50 boutiques, restaurants and a movie theater. Still more retail therapy awaits at Legacy Place, PGA Commons and Mainstreet at Midtown.
If you prefer shades of blue over greens, join Lacuna Tours for a sightseeing eco tour or family-friendly fishing trip in the Lake Worth Lagoon. Whether you’ve spent a relaxing day on the fairway, shopping or on the water, reward yourself with a craft brew from Twisted Trunk Brewing Company and sip an IPGA Eldorado-hopped IPA at the taproom bar, beautifully crafted from the wood of a 100-year-old elm.

Palm Beach Garden is most well-known for being the official home of the Professional Golf Association (PGA). So it should come as no surprise to find out that Palm Beach Gardens also has quite a few noteworthy golf clubs and golf courses.
Unfortunately, there are no beaches in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. That said, it’s just a short drive to other beaches in the Palm Beach area, including John D. MacArthur Beach State Park and Ocean Reef Park.
For the most part, Palm Beach Gardens continues to be an under-the-radar gem of Florida’s Palm Beaches. Crowds are relatively rare in this Florida town.
There is a shopping center in Palm Beach Gardens called Downtown Palm Beach Gardens. This shopping center, along with the neighboring The Gardens Mall and Legacy Place shopping area, create a sort of downtown-esque area of Palm Beach Gardens.
Unfortunately, Palm Beach Gardens does not have a boardwalk. However, there is the lovely Cypress Boardwalk Trail just a few minutes away in West Palm Beach.
Palm Beach Gardens is great for a family vacation, thanks to its gorgeous natural preserves, delicious dessert spots, and more.
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) is just 13 miles away from Palm Beach Gardens. If that option doesn’t work for you, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Miami International Airport (MIA) are both relatively close as well.
Palm Tran is the only public transportation option in Palm Beach Garden. This bus system runs through all of Palm Beach County, making it easy to explore this beautiful Florida coastline.
Winter is the most popular time of year to visit Palm Beach Gardens, thanks to the ideal temperature and weather conditions.
The earliest settlers arrived in Palm Beach Gardens in 1872, but it wasn’t until the mid-1900s that the town’s development really picked up speed. In 1959, John D. MacArthur, a wealthy landowner, decided to build homes for over 50,000 people. And, as the saying goes, the rest is history.
Since PGA is the golf capital of Florida, a round of golf is a must-do. There are five championship golf courses at the PGA National Resort, if you really want to golf with the pros. Other than that, Abacoa Golf Club and The Country Club at Mirasol are both home to noteworthy links.
If you’re not much of a golfer, head to The Gardens Mall instead. There, you can shop until you drop for everything from clothes to cars.
