Inauguração da exposição “River of Grass”

This season, the Cornell Art Museum at Old School Square invites you to experience Rio de Grama, an immersive, site-specific exhibition created in collaboration with the Associação de Artistas em Fibras de Miami e O Centro: Centro de Arte e Cultura de Hollywood.

Apresentando o trabalho de 12 artistas, Rio de Grama transforms the museum’s two lower galleries into extraordinary corridors of fiber, texture and form. Custom-built, six-foot-square looms become both canvas and architecture, surrounding visitors with woven environments inspired by the movement, complexity and fragile beauty of the Everglades.

Through fiber art, natural materials and traditional and contemporary weaving techniques, the artists offer their own sculptural interpretations of this uniquely Florida ecosystem—inviting you to look closer, move through the work and experience the landscape from an entirely new perspective.

The exhibition takes inspiration from Marjory Stoneman Douglas’ landmark 1947 book, Os Everglades: O Rio de Grama, honoring both her enduring legacy and the extraordinary environment she fought to protect.
