Lake Worth Beach has a bounty of outdoor recreation for those looking to spend more time outside. Go on beyond the city’s popular establishments and get started on socially distant outdoor adventures the next time you find yourself in The Palm Beaches or decide to discover a new part of your backyard. Here’s how!  

Golf

Lake Worth Beach Golf Club Hit the greens and take in the coastline views of the Intracoastal Waterway from this Par 70 public course. Established in 1926, the long-established 6,100-yard course has a very player-friendly design and is recommended for all ages and skill levels. Offering affordable and approachable rates via daily fee and/or membership options. Tip: pre- or post- a day on the greens, stick around for breakfast, lunch or dinner bites and beverages at the onsite Beach Club Bar and Grill.   

Outdoor Arts

LULA Lake Worth Arts Adorning the walls throughout the city, you will find a growing collection of murals. Leading the effort is LULA Lake Worth Arts, who has brought a series of various art-focused projects to highlight local artists, offer cultural experiences, and reflect the spirit of Lake Worth Beach. Through projects such as 9-Arch Mural Project, the 2017 CANVAS Outdoor Museum and FOCUS, they have enhanced the quality of life for those who live and visit the city, and beautified Lake Worth Beach. These photo-friendly sites have seamlessly blended with the artsy nature of the fun-loving city, and can now be explored at leisure through the very helpful Murals Map. Additional Recreation

Family Bicycle For nearly 60 years, this family-owned shop has been providing bike rentals to Lake Worth Beach, as well as bike sales, maintenance, and repair. Next time you’re in the area, consider staying active with a pedal-powered option, which range from adult and children bicycles to tricycles and four-wheel peddle bikes. Adding a bike to your visit, can surely enhance your outdoor exploration. 

Kayak Lake Worth Interested in getting out on the waterways? You most definitely can! Kayak Lake Worth offers rentals and private ecological tours by reservation only that allow visitors to paddle the Lake Worth Lagoon and explore Lake Worth’s Snook Islands. Paddlers can choose from single or double kayak rental options, which are offered in two-hour, half day and full day kayak increments. Fishing kayak rentals are also available. This vendor launches from The Beach Club at The Lake Worth Beach Golf Club, and advanced reservations are required. Spaces can be booked via their website. To secure your spot, make sure to book your experience at least a day in advance. Bookings close at 9 p.m. for the following day. Tips: 1) the earlier you can paddle, the better, 2) make sure to wear flip flops or shoes you can get wet. Sharp shells and rock can be found along the shoreline, 3) stay hydrated and 4) make sure to wear sunscreen, especially on the tops of your legs. 

Snook Islands Natural Area  Take in the sights and sounds of this mangrove and oyster-filled estuary, nestled along the shoreline of downtown Lake Worth Beach. If you’re lucky, you may even see some of the Snook Island locals: green sea turtles, West Indian manatees, busy fiddler crabs at low tide or even the Island’s adorable, feathered resident – the American oystercatcher. Limited free parking is available at North Golfview Road and additional free parking can be found at Bryant Park. The 118 acres of mangrove island, seagrass and oyster reef restoration allows visitors to experience and connect with the Lake Worth Lagoon – a thriving estuary. Once there, enjoy the boardwalk, observation platform, fishing pier or paddle the mile+ of restored shoreline and islands.  Accessible by kayak or watercraft, consider bringing your own or renting for a fuller experience. Tip: for optimal conditions, plan your trip when a falling or rising tide lines up with morning or evening. You may even get to witness the flamboyant oystercatchers hopping along, foraging for oysters at the rocky waterline! 

Parks

Though we’ve highlighted two of the area’s most prominent city parks, there are more than 14 additional parks to choose from. Explore the additional ones, here. 

Bryant Park – Overlooking the Lake Worth Lagoon, also known as the Intracoastal Waterway, is a prime spot for fishing. Boating and on-water recreation can also be enjoyed due to the park’s onsite boat ramp access. Horseshoe pits and pickleball courts add to the park’s outdoor appeal. 

Lake Worth Beach Park  – Just a few steps from the Municipal Beach, visitors can drop a line in the Atlantic Ocean from the Lake Worth Pier, all while taking in the scenic views of Lake Worth Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. After visiting the pier, which is also known as the William O. Lockhart Municipal Pier, stop by for a meal and drinks at any of the many surrounding outdoor beachside and ocean-facing restaurants. Tip: Bring a couple of dollars in cash as the pier access does require an entry fee.
