Taking place on Saturday, September 23, across Palm Beach County, this initiative extends through November with additional opportunities. Volunteers from over 100 countries gather at local beaches, rivers, lakes, and canals to contribute to cleaner waterways.

Sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy, a premier marine-focused organization, this event has a 38-year history of global impact. It’s not just about removing trash; volunteers also collect valuable data on debris types and sources using paper data cards or the Clean Swell app. This data serves as a powerful resource for education, influencing policy, and fostering positive changes in behavior at individual, organizational, and community levels.

Indigo Katazome Workshop at the Morikami, Delray Beach

Katazome is a Japanese resist process used for hundreds of years in Japanese textiles. Traditional artisans created a resist paste made from a rice flour mixture and applied it to cloth through the use of elaborately hand-carved stencils. Wherever this paste is applied will resist the dye, creating a pattern. Traditionally katazome is dyed with indigo to create the traditional white and blue of many Japanese textiles.

Time: 10:00 am.

Register here.

Location: Oki Education Center, Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach, FL 33446.

More Things to Do

Blues Beatles – Friday, Delray Beach

When: September 22-23.

A tribute to The Beatles, the Blue Beatles band will play this weekend at Arts Garage.

Blues Beatles started during the breaks of the rehearsals of Today – an original band that Marcos Viana, Flavio Naves, Lancaster Ferreira, Bruno Falcão and Fred Barley started in 2010. Marcos, the singer, would invariably pick up his acoustic guitar and start playing Beatles songs. The other members of the band were amazed at how natural the songs sounded, as if he had written them himself. The reason for this was that Marcos really identified with the songs and never imitated John or Paul. He simply sang with his own voice and from his heart. Being blues players the rest of the band started adding their blues twist to these “break songs.”

Time: 8 pm – 10 pm.

Cost: $45 – $50.

Get Friday tickets here.

Get Saturday tickets here.

Location: Arts Garage, 94 NE 2nd Ave., Delray Beach, FL 33444.
