Art After Dark: Black History Celebration, West Palm Beach

Each Friday night from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach organizes Art After Dark—a fun mix of art and entertainment featuring a docent-led tour, an open studio, live music, and more! This Friday, create an abstract expressionistic landscape painting in watercolor inspired by Alma Woodsey Thomas. This lesson taught by Resident Teaching Artist Janelle Fulford will explore brush techniques and best practices for watercolor painting.

Black Leadership Summit, Boynton Beach

Join the 2nd Annual Black Leadership Summit on February 23, 2024, at the Arts & Cultural Center, located in Boynton Beach. The Black Leadership Summit is a one-day conference that includes a plenary session, workshop, and panel discussion. The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Careshia Moore, President & CEO at the Usher New Look Foundation. Topics include leadership and business development, financial literacy, education innovation, mental and behavioral health, diversity in technology, and more. This event is targeted at business and nonprofit executives and leaders seeking leadership development. This year’s theme is “Making an Impact: Where do you fit in?” Proceeds from the Black Leadership Summit will provide scholarships or grants for Palm Beach County students and young adults. Mat Pilates in the Pavilion at Mounts Botanical Garden, West Palm Beach

This mat Pilates class focuses on building strength, increasing flexibility, and reducing stress. The class incorporates contemporary Pilates repertoire with whole-person framework modalities. The exercises are low impact and excellent for enhancing the mind-body connection. All levels are welcome, and modifications will be offered to ensure a pain-free experience. Amanda McBroom – Crimes of the Heart, Delray Beach

Crimes of the Heart – They say love makes fools of us all sooner or later. Join Amanda for a musical Rogue’s Gallery of portraits of those who loved big, loud, and often not too well. With songs by such musical masters as Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin, Leonard Cohen, and, of course, Amanda’s own creations, including her worldwide hit song THE ROSE, this is an evening of sweet romance, powerful passion, and some big fun as well.

BlackLuxe Picnic Festival, Boca Raton

Join a music and food festival in a luxury outdoor setting, celebrating the excellence of the black culture and highlighting black brands and vendors. Participants must dress in picnic/derby attire while allowing them to bring picnic baskets with food and picnic tables. The event includes DJs, live bands, musical artists, colorful and dynamic photo installations for great picture taking, and interactive games. The BlackLuxe Picnic Festival 2024 will take place at the Sunset Cove Amphitheater in Boca Raton.

The BlackLuxe Picnic Festival Weekend donates part of its proceeds to various nonprofits that aid in the development of the youth and organizations that seeks to advance the education of African Americans. Part proceeds from the event will benefit the Bold Foundation, a 501 c3 organization aimed at developing our youth through education and leadership training and the Juneteenth Foundation of Palm Beach County.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s 19th Annual TurtleFest, Juno Beach

Time: 10 am – 6 pm.

Celebrate 40 years of sea turtle and ocean conservation at Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s 19th Annual TurtleFest. Presented by Amazon, the free, family-friendly community event will take place at Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) and the surrounding Loggerhead Park.

At TurtleFest, more than 10,000 guests will come together to support education and conservation efforts through interactive, educational exhibits, marine life, live music, art, shopping, games, and other family-friendly activities. Kids can dive into the world of sea turtle conservation with fun, hands-on activities such as TurtleFest’s Junior Vet Lab.

Goat Yoga with Baby Goats, Loxahatchee

Have a unique and unforgettable experience at Karat 24, a family-owned and operated farm. You will practice gentle yoga and mindfulness exercises (no prior yoga experience required) in a beautiful 10-acre serene ranch. You will get a behind-the-scenes look at where goats eat, live, play, and sleep.

You will also meet our other wonderful farm animals (miniature piglets, miniature horses, miniature cows, miniature baby donkey).

The session is led by a specialized Yogis who integrate yoga teaching, nature healing and farm animals-assisted wellness in a fun, memorable experience.

Chris Cain, Delray Beach

Chris Cain offers up a soulful stew of Memphis-style electric blues. Celebrate the Lunar New Year by exploring artworks in the Chinese Collection and become inspired by the symbolic meanings behind the creatures depicted in these artworks.
