Through paintings, sculptures, photographs, and more, this installation reveals a sliver of the who, where, and how behind the art. Artists portrayals of themselves and others in the act of artmaking accompany depictions of dynamic studios, while examples of artists preparatory works illustrate their creative processes. On view during the Nortons 85th anniversary and drawn from the Collection, these artworks offer opportunities to draw connections with other works installed in the Museum, learn about the Nortons history, and reflect on the Museum as a space for artists to learn, teach, create, and be inspired.
