Opportunities for residents to support local businesses coupled with acts of kindness inspire community-wide effort.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 20, 2020) — With social distancing in full swing throughout The Palm Beaches, residents might be looking for ways to maintain a sense of normalcy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The good news: Date nights at your favorite restaurants and fun, educational activities for the whole family don’t have to stop. A community-wide initiative to support local businesses has hotels, eateries and attractions – from Boca Raton to Jupiter and Tequesta – banding together to offer everything from curbside pickup to virtual experiences and online contests.
Tourism is Palm Beach County’s second largest economic driver; the industry has been among the hardest hit by Coronavirus (COVID-19). Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB), the official tourism marketing organization for Palm Beach County, has sourced information directly from its community partners to highlight the ways residents can support their local restaurants and attractions while livening up their quarantine routine.
Nonprofit cultural and nature centers that depend on ticket sales – such as the Kravis Center, Flagler Museum, Loggerhead Marinelife Center and Busch Wildlife – also are leaning on the community for monetary donations. Other ways to support local businesses include leaving online reviews, following their social media accounts and signing up for memberships.
The community-wide effort doesn’t stop at residents. Local businesses also are taking initiative to support their employees and others in need.
Below is a glimpse of the offerings available, listed by support types and location. (Note: This is not a complete list, as businesses update their programming on a day-to-day basis.) We’ve also included a section highlighting some of the many businesses committing acts of kindness throughout The Palm Beaches.
DTPB encourages residents and visitors to keep tabs on its Covid-19 Update page for helpful resources as well as the latest destination-specific information.
