WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.May 23, 2024Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB), the official tourism marketing organization for Palm Beach County, announced record-breaking first quarter tourism numbers and hosted key industry representatives from the travel and tourism community during the national celebration of Travel Rally Day at Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

At the event, DTPB President & CEO Milton Segarra reported the highest-ever tourism numbers for The Palm Beaches during the first three months of 2024. Visitation during this period exceeded last year’s figures by 1%, with a record-breaking 2.8 million visitors. In addition, at the Travel Rally Day celebration, Mr. Rick Rose was awarded the 32nd Annual Providencia Award, and the DTPB Partner of the Year Awards recognized The Ben Hotel in the accommodations category, as well as Visit Palm Beach in the non-accommodations category.

Travel Rally Day concludes the 41st annual National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW), highlighting the collective strength of the U.S. travel industry to champion the power of the tourism industry in powering our nation’s economy, communities, and connections. NTTW spotlights the critical role that travel plays in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, elevating the quality of life for residents, creating quality job opportunities, and inspiring new businesses.

The Providencia Award is given by DTPB to a local business, organization or individual who has demonstrated an extraordinary contribution to the vitality and prosperity of The Palm Beaches as a desirable tourist destination. The winners are chosen by public vote. Nominees this year included the following: PGA National Resort, Related Companies: CityPlace & Hilton West Palm Beach, and Mr. Rick Rose, author of Palm Beach: The Essential Guide to America’s Legendary Resort Town.

DTPB also awards the Partner of the Year Awards in two categories, accommodation and non-accommodation to recognize tourism organizations whose commendable efforts help DTPB achieve its mission, vision, and brand promise by implementing innovative tourism programs and participation in destination marketing programs.

“Travel Rally Day offers us an opportunity to shine a light on the importance of tourism to our local economy and to recognize the attractions, hotels, and individuals who have played a significant role in attracting visitors and providing memorable experiences in our county,” stated Segarra. “Thanks to our exceptional partners, The Palm Beaches welcomed a record-breaking 2.8 million visitors in the first quarter of 2024 and achieved a record-breaking $2.26 billion in visitor spending during that time period. We are excited to set even more records this year, as tourism continues to thrive as the primary economic driver of The Palm Beaches, embodying a shared community value in shaping and promoting our brand globally.”
