Record-Breaking Visitation Announced for The Palm Beaches

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 22, 2024) – Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB), the tourism marketing organization with a mission of growing the tourism economy for Palm Beach County, has announced record-breaking visitation numbers for 2023. DTPB’s data shows 9.48 million visitors came to The Palm Beaches from January to December, a 2.5% visitation increase over 2022. It was the third year of visitation growth for the destination since the pandemic impacted travel.

“This is a powerful testimony that destination marketing works,” said DTPB’s President and CEO Milton Segarra, CDME. “We saw a lot of pent-up demand from our key U.S. and international markets. The combination of our data-driven advertising and marketing strategies, our commitment to effective sales initiatives, and the efforts of our tourism partners and sister Tourism Development Council agencies in Sports, Culture, and Film/TV helped this destination continue to attract more visitors than ever.”

By the numbers:

Tourism helps Palm Beach County residents in many ways. Bed tax dollars collected through visitation help to fund important initiatives such as beach restoration, cultural programming and institutions, and new facilities. In addition, tourism is one of the reasons why Florida residents do not have to pay a state income tax. Because of visitors to the Sunshine State who are paying bed taxes, every Florida household is saved $1,840 in taxes*.

“Our future success is dependent on several critical factors, including Florida remaining competitive against global destinations. This requires strong resources,” Segarra said. “Discover The Palm Beaches stands firm in our support of the local tourism industry, which provides jobs for more than 85,000 people and enhances the quality of place and quality of life for residents. Everyone wins when you invest in destination marketing.”
