- Travel Intender – A person who is actively planning a trip after being inspired by marketing efforts.
- Inventory – The total number of hotel rooms and tourism assets available for booking.
- Length of Stay (LOS) – The duration of time a visitor spends at a destination.
- Vacation Rental – Shared lodging options like those offered through Airbnb or VRBO.
- Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) – Marketplaces that allow users to research, compare, plan, and book travel online. Example: Expedia and Tripadvisor are OTAs
- Travel Advisors – Professionals who assist travelers in planning and booking their trips.
- Tour Operators – Companies that create travel packages combining components like hotels and sightseeing tours.
- Global Distribution System (GDS) – A network that allows third-party travel providers to access and book hotel inventory. Many hotels load their inventory into the GDS.
- Occupancy – The percentage of hotel rooms occupied by visitors out of the total available rooms. Example: If 80 out of 100 rooms are occupied, the occupancy rate is 80%.
- Average Daily Rate (ADR) – The average cost of a hotel room per day based on factors like location and seasonality.
- RevPar (Revenue Per Available Room) – The revenue earned per available room, considering occupancy and rate.
