Lifeguard Information

Palm Beach County Ocean Rescue guards designated swimming areas at 14 oceanfront and inlet parks. Most guarded areas are staffed daily from 9 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. when a condition flag is flying. Hours and staffing may change, so always look for the flag and swim near a lifeguard.

Pet-Friendly Beaches

The Palm Beaches make it easy to enjoy the sand and surf with your four-legged friend. Dogs are welcome to run, play and splash at designated dog-friendly beaches throughout Palm Beach County, while service animals are welcome in accordance with ADA guidelines. Please see the dog-friendly beaches below and check posted rules before visiting.

Jupiter Dog Beach

A 2.5-mile stretch extending from beach crossover No. 26 near Marcinski Road north to crossover No. 57 near the Carlin Park property line. Well-behaved dogs may play and swim off-leash from sunrise to sunset. Owners must supervise their dogs and remove all pet waste.

Bark Beach at Spanish River Park

This designated off-leash beach in Boca Raton is located between lifeguard towers 18 and 20. A Bark Beach permit is required, and dogs are allowed only during designated hours. Please check current permit requirements and operating hours before visiting.

Accessible Beach Amenities

Beach wheelchairs, surf wheelchairs and ADA beach-access mats are available at select Palm Beach County beach parks for visitors with mobility disabilities. Availability and equipment vary by location. Contact a lifeguard upon arrival to arrange use.

Beach Safety Tips

• Swim near a lifeguard.
• Check warning flags before entering the water.
• Never swim alone.
• Keep children within arm’s reach.
• Avoid swimming near piers and inlets.
• Do not touch marine life.
• Stay hydrated and reapply reef-conscious sunscreen.
• During sea turtle nesting season, fill in holes, flatten sandcastles and remove belongings before leaving.
