National Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized each year across the United States from September 15 to October 15, including in The Palm Beaches. From marveling at art exhibits to patronizing locally owned businesses, there are many ways to celebrate the contributions and influences of the Hispanic and Latinx communities in The Palm Beaches throughout the year — but don’t miss out on these festive and educational events in September and October.

Latino Conservation Week Kick-Off Day at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, Jupiter

When: September 14, 12 pm – 4:30 pm

Join Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in celebrating Latino Conservation Week with Spanish-language educational programs on Saturday, September 14. Schedule:

Latino Conservation Week, from September 14 to September 22, was created to support the Latino community in participating in outdoor activities and protecting our natural resources.

Sunday’s Latin Moods – The Sound of Retro, Boca Raton

Guataca Boca Raton invites you to a RETRO PARTY featuring EA “The Sound of Retro.” Enjoy a live musical journey through the best hits of the ’80s, ’90s, and today, with a mix of Disco, Rock, Pop, Dance, and Latin Music. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage at The Historical Society of Palm Beach County, West Palm Beach

When: September 18, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Join the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and the Johnson History Museum for their annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration on the 3rd floor of the 1916 Historic Courtroom. The event begins with a reception at 5:30 pm, catered by Don Ramon Restaurante Cubano, followed by a panel discussion at 6:30 pm moderated by Gaby Viteri. The discussion will feature artists whose work is showcased in the exhibit Visual & Natural, highlighting the connection between Latinx traditions and cultures. The evening will conclude with a live flamenco performance.

Clematis By Night: Cortadito (Cuban Son), West Palm Beach

When: September 19, 6 pm – 9 pm

Enjoy live music, food, and shopping on the Great Lawn in downtown West Palm Beach. On September 19, the featured band is Cortadito.

Named after a favorite caffeinated pick-me-up, Cortadito is a Cuban folk/country music band from Miami, connecting the past and present to bring concertgoers the future of Cuban Son. The evolution of Cortadito has led to it becoming one of the torchbearers of a pop culture phenomenon that is two centuries strong. As a traditional folk and acoustic band that focuses on performing one of the earliest styles of Cuban country music known as Son (pronounced sown), their sound can best be described as reminiscent of the famed Buena Vista Social Club.

Summer Sips & Sounds – Jeff Kaye and Krescendo, Boca Raton

In collaboration with the Festival of the Arts Boca, the Boca Raton Historical Society presents the final concert in the Summer Sips & Sounds series. Enjoy Spanish-inspired music from the 1920s to today, performed by Jeff Kaye and Krescendo, in a setting that highlights Boca Raton’s modern Spanish heritage. Tickets start at $40 per person or $108 for a season package, which includes pre-concert refreshments (wine/water) and post-concert appetizers.

Summer sips and sound flyer, Hispanic Heritage edition

Sunset Sounds – Frayabel and the Latin Band, Boca Raton

When: September 19, 5-8 pm

The Boca Raton Museum of Art invites you to their Sunset Sounds series, a free summer music event held every other Thursday in the Museum Courtyard. On September 19, from 5-8 pm, celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Frayabel and the Latin Band. Enjoy the vibrant rhythms of salsa and merengue that will fill the air with energy and excitement.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own foldable chairs or rent one for $5 (free for Museum Members). Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and Museum Members can also rent private tables by calling 561.392.2500, ext. 203. Museum admission is free during the event.

Nestor Torres: Latin Jazz, Delray Beach

When: September 21, 8-10 pm

Join an unforgettable evening of Latin Jazz with Néstor Torres at Arts Garage in Delray Beach. In honor of the International Day of Jazz, Torres will deliver a dynamic performance blending his Caribbean roots with Classical training and Jazz improvisation. A celebrated artist with 18 albums, Torres has earned 5 Latin Grammy nominations, a Latin Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album, and a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Album. His artistry is renowned for being “highly infectious” and “almost transcendental.”

Torres will pay tribute to his Jazz influences and mentors, featuring tracks from his Latin Grammy-nominated album, Jazz Flute Traditions, along with his signature Latin Jazz style.

Enjoy live music, food, and shopping on the Great Lawn in downtown West Palm Beach. On September 26, the featured band is Catabella.

Catabella is a synonym for talent, professionalism and fun! Catabella specializes in Latin music (salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, and more). However, they also perform top ’40s pop, oldies, disco, and classic rock. The group comprises young yet experienced professional musicians who bring diversity and energy to the dance floor.

Suénalo, Delray Beach

Experience the electrifying sounds of Suénalo at Arts Garage in Delray Beach. This 8-piece Afro-Latin electro-funk band from Miami is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a high-energy performance that blends Afro-Latin rhythms with electronic beats, salsa, hip-hop, samba, funk, and the unmistakable spirit of Miami. Named by the Miami New Times as one of the “Best Latin Rock Bands of All Time,” Suénalo is known for getting audiences dancing, twisting, and shouting to their infectious grooves.

First Friday @ 5: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage, Boynton Beach

When: October 4, 5-9 pm

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the city of Boynton Beach will host a special edition First Friday @ 5 Concert at 5 p.m., Friday, October 4 at Centennial Park & Amphitheater. This free, family-friendly event will showcase the rich Hispanic culture with music, food, and an artisan market.

The Playtime Band will take the stage promptly at 6 p.m. and play Latin genres such as salsa, merengue, bachata and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to shop an artisan market featuring, Your Mothers Beads4 Arrows CreationsBlings with BlessingsCraft Addicts and The Spiritual Tree. The following food trucks will be in attendance: MankaTina’s TreatsThe Crumb UpTacos Veracruz and Gimme Grillin.

Free parking is available on the corner of Boynton Beach Boulevard and Seacrest Boulevard (entrance is located off Boynton Beach Boulevard.) Rideshare is encouraged.  For the safety of attendees and vendors, the following roads will be closed: East Ocean Avenue from Seacrest Boulevard to Southeast 1st Street and Southeast 1st Avenue from Seacrest Boulevard to Southeast 1st Street.
