Riviera Beach, Florida is known for The Blue Heron Bridge, which, while unassuming on the surface, is actually a fantastic dive site. Loads of marine life have made their home amidst the bridge’s structural supports, including fish, octopi, and seahorses.
Riviera Beach has a few different beaches within its borders. The shorelines of Singer Island and Peanut Island are both local favorites.
Riviera Beach is moderately crowded. The number of people in town heavily depends on the time of year, with winter months being the most popular time to visit.

You can easily get to Riviera Beach through Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), which is only 8 miles away. If that particular airport doesn’t work for your needs, you can also fly into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), which is 57 miles away, or Miami International Airport (MIA), which is 78 miles away.
There are two main public transportation options that run through Riviera Beach, Florida: Palm Tran and Tri-Rail. Palm Tran is a bus system that runs through all of Palm Beach County (and a bit beyond), including Riviera Beach. Tri-Rail is a commuter rail line that runs all the way from Miami to Riviera Beach’s very own Mangonia Park Station.
Like the rest of Southern Florida, winter is the ideal time to visit, temperature-wise. But if you’d like to avoid the biggest crowds, aim for shoulder season – in this case, October, March, or April.
Once upon a time, Riviera Beach was originally named Oak Lawn – and since then, it’s undergone a few more name changes. In 1922, it was incorporated as the Town of Riviera, and in 1959 it finally became the City of Riviera Beach.
If you’re a diver, you simply can’t miss out on Blue Heron Bridge. This incredible location has been called one of the best dive spots in the world. So strap on your gear and say hello to octopi, seahorses, and many other marine animals.
But if you’d prefer to stay closer to the surface, Peanut Island Park is another can’t-miss attraction in Riviera Beach. This little island is home to golden shorelines, sunny skies, and clear waters. It’s the perfect place to soak up some sun, go for a swim, or test your kayaking skills.
