Auction proceeds will benefit Florida’s largest and most comprehensive children and families organization based in Palm Beach County
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 12, 2021) — January 2021 is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. To help support this cause, Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB) in partnership with PCMA Convening Leaders, invites everyone to participate in an online auction where 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward supporting the local organization Place of Hope. Health, safety, and wellness have been causes that the official marketing organization of Palm Beach County has supported in many ways for several years. It’s only natural that Place of Hope, south Florida’s largest and most comprehensive children and families organization, which provides housing and support services for those who have suffered abuse, neglect, abandonment, and human trafficking, is this year’s beneficiary.
“All aspects of health, safety, and wellness within our communities and beyond, have been an ongoing pillar of DTPB’s mission particularly since the onset of the pandemic,” said Jorge Pesquera, president, and CEO of DTPB. “We are delighted to partner with local contributors who feel the same way, to help bring a little bit of The Palm Beaches to those who choose to help support this wonderful cause.”
Interested parties can browse online at http://discoverpb.givesmart.com/ and bid on products and experiences representative of Palm Beach County, including an original art piece by a local fine artist, bestselling author, and TED speaker Camilla Webster. Other items up for bid include a two-night stay with breakfast and valet parking at the Hilton West Palm Beach, a one-night stay with breakfast included at The Ben, a one-night stay with parking at Eau Palm Beach, a Lynora’s Market gourmet gift box, with James Patterson autographed book, “The Chef”, a Boca Raton Resort and Spa Golf Kit, and more.
The auction will be a highlight of the highly anticipated PCMA Convening Leaders Conference, during which Discover The Palm Beaches, an Official Network Partner, will be hosting a live event to complement the virtual conference, taking place January 13-15, 2021. The auction will close on January 13, 2021, at 3:45 p.m. and the winner will be announced live at the Palm Beach County Convention Center (the winner does not need to be present to win).
In addition to providing an original art piece for bid at the auction, Webster will be a speaker at the hybrid virtual and live event where she will host, “The Art of the Pivot”. Webster will guide participants through pivoting in the creative process to uncover creative solutions for any challenge.
“We are living in a new paradigm where challenging changes and uncertainty are the new normal,” commented Webster. “Everyone has to pivot, or risk being left behind, maybe even irrelevant. The art of seeing is the great gift of artists and creative thinkers everywhere and I hope that comes across in my presentation.”
In addition to helping DTPB, Place of Hope and PCMA put an end to human trafficking, those participating live in PCMA Convening Leaders will see first-hand what makes the destination meetings-ready. The Palm Beaches’ offer diversity without the density amid an array of meeting spaces for all tastes and budgets, ranging from the 350,000-square-foot, GBAC STARTM Accredited Convention Center in downtown West Palm Beach, with its attached hotel and more than 1,200 rooms within walking distance, to historic landmark hotels and more than 200 cultural institutions that have earned it the moniker of Florida’s Cultural Capital®.
DTPB’s Destination Champions program will also be on full display during the three-day hybrid event and a great example of the opportunities that exist for meeting planners to give their events a local Palm Beaches feel. DTPB works closely with its community of local, talented vendors, speakers, and service professionals to give attendees – at an in-person, hybrid, or virtual meeting – an immersive experience from the destination. From guest speakers, such as Camilla Webster, to corporate social responsibility opportunities and health and wellness breaks, to cultural experiences provided by the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County and custom food and beverage options, the strong network of community vendors and subject matter experts is positioned to be a top asset for meeting planners looking to plan events in The Palm Beaches.
