Black Gold Jubilee

Celebrate Our "Country"

“Her Soil is Her Fortune!” This is how locals describe the historic city of Belle Glade, with its dark, rich, and incredibly fertile ground. To celebrate the annual end of the harvest season, the entire Glades Region – Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay – come together with friends and family for an all day affair.

Homegrown Fun in The Glades

When we say it’s an all-day thing, we mean it. The day starts early with the Main Street Parade and 5K, 10K runs/walks on Torry Island. Then, you have family-friendly activities, rides, games, and a nighttime spectacular firework show over massive Lake Okeechobee. And for the Black Gold Jubilee there’s guaranteed to be a country music soundtrack … the main attraction this year is the sensational, Sara Evans.

 Good Food & Fun

Glades Region agriculture is world famous, it’s “America’s Winter Breadbasket.” Just about everything grows here, from the famous sweet corn to tropical fruit to sugar cane. Foodies will no doubt indulge the Jubilee’s Glades-style food booths, where you can sample everything from BBQ to ethnic dishes to yes, the ever-popular sweet corn.

Gateway to the Florida Everglades

Giant Lake Okeechobee shines as a picture-perfect backdrop for Torry Island, which sits along the lake’s southern shores, the Gateway to the Florida Everglades. Watch alligators sunning on rocks, look up to see a variety of unique birds, take in the tropical flora and drop a line in the water, because Lake O has the finest bass fishing in the U.S. From Torry, you can get LOST – that is, hiking, biking, or horseback riding on the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail (LOST). On the trail, look west for striking sunsets and look east for views of this nationally important agricultural region.
