Planning a visit between June and August? Here’s what to know about summer weather in The Palm Beaches, what to pack and some of the best things to do during your trip.

Summer in The Palm Beaches is warm, tropical and humid. Daytime temperatures typically reach the upper 80s to low 90s, with warm evenings and plenty of sunshine.
Summer is also part of South Florida’s rainy season, so brief afternoon showers and thunderstorms are common. That doesn’t necessarily mean a full day of rain. Mornings can be a great time to head to the beach or plan outdoor activities, with indoor attractions making an easy backup for later in the day.
Summer Travel Tip: Plan outdoor adventures earlier in the day, stay hydrated and keep an eye on the local forecast. A quick afternoon shower can be a good excuse to explore one of the area’s museums, shops or indoor attractions.
Absolutely. Summer brings some of the warmest ocean temperatures of the year, making it a popular season for swimming, snorkeling and other water activities.
With 47 miles of Atlantic coastline, there are plenty of beaches to explore throughout The Palm Beaches. Head to Jupiter for laid-back beach days, discover the clear waters around Singer Island and Riviera Beach, or spend the day along the shoreline in Delray Beach or Boca Raton.
Always check current beach conditions, weather and posted safety information before entering the water.

Summer is a great time to discover what lies beneath the water.
One of the destination’s best-known snorkeling spots is Blue Heron Bridge at Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach. Its underwater snorkel trail is home to tropical fish, rays, seahorses and other marine life. For the clearest conditions, plan your visit around high tide.
Nearby, Peanut Island offers another popular spot for swimming, snorkeling and spending the day by the water.
Farther north, Coral Cove Park in Tequesta combines a quieter beach setting with natural limestone formations and opportunities to spot marine life close to shore.
Good to Know: Morning hours and high tide can offer some of the best snorkeling conditions. Always check tides and weather before heading out.
There’s more than one way to experience summer on the water.
At Jupiter Outdoor Center – Riverbend Park, rent a kayak or canoe or join a guided eco-tour along the nationally designated Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River. The route winds through cypress trees and natural Florida landscapes that feel worlds away from the beach.
In West Palm Beach, Visit Palm Beach offers ways to explore the Intracoastal Waterway with catamaran cruises, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling excursions and other outdoor adventures.
You can also make your way to Peanut Island for a day of swimming, snorkeling and relaxing along the shoreline.

Known as Florida’s Sea Turtle Capital, The Palm Beaches are home to some of the most important sea turtle nesting beaches in the country. Summer falls right in the heart of sea turtle nesting season, making it an especially meaningful time to learn about these seasonal visitors.
Visit Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach to see sea turtle patients undergoing rehabilitation and learn more about marine conservation through exhibits and educational programs.
You may also notice marked sea turtle nests along local beaches during the summer months. Give nests and wildlife plenty of space, avoid disturbing nesting turtles and follow local guidelines when visiting the beach after dark.
For a full day of slides, pools and family fun, head to Rapids Water Park in Riviera Beach.
The South Florida water park offers more than 40 slides and attractions, from high-speed thrills to a wave pool, lazy river and family-friendly water play.
It’s an easy way to build an entire summer day around cooling off.

Not every summer adventure has to happen at the beach.
Spend a morning exploring the shaded tropical grounds of Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society in West Palm Beach, where visitors can see animals from Florida and around the world.
Nearby, Cox Science Center and Aquarium offers hands-on exhibits, an aquarium, planetarium and interactive science experiences that make it an especially useful option when an afternoon shower rolls through.
For even more wildlife experiences, make your way to Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee, where a drive-through safari brings visitors close to animals from around the world.

When you’re ready for a break from the sunshine, explore the cultural side of The Palm Beaches.
At the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, wander through collections spanning American, European, Chinese and contemporary art and photography.
In Delray Beach, Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens brings Japanese art, history and traditions to South Florida through museum exhibitions, cultural experiences and its surrounding gardens.
A summer afternoon indoors can be just as memorable as a morning spent at the beach.
Summer also brings concerts, celebrations and seasonal events throughout The Palm Beaches.
Fourth of July celebrations light up communities across the destination, including West Palm Beach’s annual 4th on Flagler along the waterfront.
In Jupiter, Shakespeare by the Sea has become a longtime summer tradition, bringing free outdoor performances to Seabreeze Amphitheater at Carlin Park.
Event dates and programming can change from year to year, so check The Palm Beaches Events Calendar before your visit to see what’s happening during your stay.
Pack for warm weather, time outdoors and the occasional tropical shower.
Bring lightweight and breathable clothing, comfortable sandals or walking shoes, swimwear and a cover-up, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen and a reusable water bottle.
A lightweight rain jacket or small umbrella can also come in handy for afternoon showers. If you plan to visit museums or other indoor attractions, consider carrying a light layer for air-conditioned spaces.
And don’t forget a reusable bag for wet swimsuits and beach gear.
