Here are some of the best things to do in and around Westlake.
Take a short drive to Swank Specialty Produce in Loxahatchee, just 15 minutes from Westlake. Every Saturday from October through May, Swank Farm hosts a bustling farmers’ market in an expansive open-air barn. Here, you can find fresh local produce, artisanal goods, and delicious treats from bakers, growers, and gardeners, making it a delightful spot for food lovers and families alike.
When in Loxahatchee, immerse yourself in the wild beauty of Florida at Lion Country Safari, the state’s largest drive-through safari and walk-through amusement park. With over 900 animals, including some of the largest herds of rhinos, giraffes, and zebras on the continent, this unique attraction offers a thrilling experience from the comfort of your own vehicle. After the safari, explore the walk-through area, featuring animal exhibits, a petting zoo, and a water play area for kids.
Head over to Wellington, known as the Winter Equestrian Capital of the World. This internationally recognized equestrian community offers endless opportunities for horse enthusiasts.
Indulge in retail therapy at The Mall at Wellington Green, featuring over 150 stores, including upscale boutiques, department stores, and specialty shops.
Drive east and you’ll find the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, home to hundreds animals on 23 shaded tropical acres, including endangered Malayan tigers, Mexican spider monkeys, jaguars and more! You’ll get closer to the animals than you would at most zoos. Not too far from the zoo, you’ll find another family-friendly attraction: The Cox Science Center and Aquarium. Westlake’s proximity to Wellington means easy access to some of the most exciting events in The Palm Beaches. From January to March, the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) takes place at Wellington International, showcasing the largest and longest-running horse show in the world. Don’t miss the Saturday Night Lights event, featuring thrilling show jumping, shopping, dining, kids’ activities, and live entertainment. Additionally, from January through April, the National Polo Center in Wellington hosts the premier polo players in the world during the exciting polo season.
