Here’s a sampling of public golf courses to consider on your next visit to The Palm Beaches.

The Palm Beaches may be famous for private clubs and resort courses, but there are also a lot of public courses waiting to be played. With budget-friendly tee times and designs by top architects, great golf here is more accessible than you might think.

Abacoa Golf Club

Address: 105 Barbados Dr. Jupiter, FL 33458.

The Abacoa Golf Club is located in the heart of one of South Florida’s best-known golf communities – Jupiter. Designed by Joe Lee, the 18-hole course features rolling fairways surrounded by serene lakes and tropical plant life. This challenging course will be appreciated by golfers of all skill levels, especially with its unique elevation changes.

Sandhill Crane Golf Club

Address: 105 Barbados Dr. Jupiter, FL 33458.

Sandhill Crane Golf Club—Palm Beach Gardens Municipal Golf Course—is a par-72 course recently redesigned and renovated by golf architect firm Dusenberry Design. Carved out of the beautiful Loxahatchee Nature Preserve, this course is one of the only in Florida that winds through natural preserve and wetlands areas. It plays to 6,500 yards through southern pines, palm trees and marsh land.

North Palm Beach Country Club

Address: 951 U.S Hwy 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408.

North Palm Beach Country Club was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is one of only two Nicklaus Signature Municipal courses in the U.S. Play the undulating terrain and conditioned greens against a backdrop of the Intracoastal Waterway on this par-71 links-style course.

Okeeheelee Golf Course

Address: 7715 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33413.

Okeeheelee Golf Course offers 27 holes of championship golf which equate to three nine-hole courses that may be played in three different 18-hole combinations. Its unique park setting provides beautiful vistas of Clear Lake. The facility is aptly named Okeeheelee, or “quiet waters” in the Seminole Indian language.

Links at Boynton Beach

Address: 8020 Jog Road, (between Hypoluxo Rd. and Gateway Blvd), Boynton Beach, FL 33472.

Links at Boynton Beach is an 18-hole, 71-par championship course with a practice green, driving range, restaurant and pro shop. Golfing parents and their children will love the additional executive-length nine-hole family course.

Address: 2345 South Ocean Blvd, Palm Beach, FL 33480.

Par 3 offers golf on the ocean. Designed by Dick Watson and his apprentice Joe Lee in 1961, this course has received many accolades over the years, including twice being named by Golf Digest as the best Par 3 course in the U.S. Redesigned and renovated in 2009 by Raymond Floyd, it affords golfers views of both the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.

Delray Beach Golf Club

Address: 2200 Highland Avenue, Delray Beach, FL, 33445.

Delray Beach Golf Club has a long history, opening in 1926 as a nine-hole facility. Today the 18-hole, Classic Donald Ross design course offers golfers long and short par 4s that will intrigue golfers of all skill levels.

Osprey Point Golf Course

Address: 12551 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33498.

Osprey Point Golf Course is a 27-hole course that’s received certification by Audubon International as a Classic Signature Golf Course. This was garnered through environmental measures in its development in 2010, which included the protection of natural habitat, conscious development of the natural surroundings and use of green-friendly Seashore Paspalum grass.

Red Reef Family Golf Course

Address: 1221 North Ocean Blvd., Boca Raton, FL 33432.

Red Reef Family Golf Course is a local favorite in Boca Raton, located between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway. Designed by Charles Ankrom, its nine holes all boast water views and range from 54 to 227 yards in length.

Park Ridge Golf Course

Address: 9191 Lantana Road, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33467.

Park Ridge Golf Course features elevation changes like nowhere else in the area. Topping 85 feet at its highest point, Park Ridge offers one-of-a-kind views of the surrounding area. With 18 holes of play and five tees per hole, Park Ridge is a challenge for all golfers.

Southwinds Golf Course

Southwinds Golf Course offers an 18-hole championship course. With its lush foliage, picturesque tree lined fairways and tranquil beauty, Southwinds is pure golf the way it was meant to be played, with nothing to distract from the game except the natural beauty of the surroundings.

John Prince Golf Learning Center

Address: 4754 Congress Avenue, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33461.

Named one of the top stand-alone ranges for three consecutive years, John Prince Golf Learning Center is a state-of-the-art, comprehensive golf learning and practice facility. It showcases 60 hitting stations, as well as two, covered hitting areas, a lighted driving range with multiple target greens, a practice fairway bunker, and 16,000 square feet of practice putting and chipping greens.

Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club

Address: 17751 Boca Club Blvd., Boca Raton, FL 33487.

The Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club is an 18-hole premier course which offers experienced and new players an idyllic golf experience. The City of Boca Raton has invested $7 million dollars on improvements to the facility, which will include course upgrades, clubhouse and cart barn remodeling, the addition of pickleball courts, landscaping and more.
