It’s the Mini Fair for Now, Then the Big Fair in May

It’s going to be twice the fun. This year the South Florida Fair is bringing everyone a Mini Fair now from January 15 – 31, then a full-fledged, traditional fair is scheduled for May 7 -23.

Mini Fair, Lots of Fun to Be Had

Keeping safety in mind, the Mini Fair is being held outdoors with much of the what makes the South Florida Fair such an entertaining event: farm animals, local and tribute bands, historic buildings of Yesteryear Village, and shopping opportunities with vendors under a large tent.

What about the real crazy stuff? Like the pig races and that famous, delicious fair food? Yes, the racing pigs are there and most of the traditional food vendors are here to tempt you with those amazing Fair faves. As for rides, it’s kiddie rides for now. Then, come May, the more exciting stuff returns to challenge those looking for real-deal thrills.

Keeping COVID Safe

Seating at all stages and grounds entertainment is limited to provide for physical distancing. Everyone is required to wear masks as per the local emergency government order. No mask, no entry. All vendors, sponsors, staff members and volunteers are required to wear face masks while working. Food will be handled safely, with all concessionaires required to utilize gloves, masks and sanitizing and cleaning protocols.

Additionally, hand sanitizer and hand washing stations are located throughout the Fairgrounds, including at the entry, exit, food concession areas, restrooms, and animal exhibits. The Fair is maintaining its high standards of cleanliness and all high touch point surfaces like doors, railings, restrooms, and all surfaces will continuously be cleaned.

Come May, 17 Days of Pure Fun Awaits

The South Florida Fairs has always been one of the top fairs in Florida. It’s an extravaganza of fried foods, tribute bands, dance parties, and great rides. And when it returns for May, it’s going to be big time. The theme for 2021 will be a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.

Other Events at the South Florida Fairgrounds
Florida’s rich history comes to life at Yesteryear Village within the South Florida Fairgrounds. Whether you’re visiting during the fair or not, spend a few hours exploring life as it was before 1940 as told by live period actors in original and replicated buildings including an old schoolhouse, a farm, a blacksmith shop, general store and period homes. The village is open year-round Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fast cars, cocktails and live music bring thousands of people together each April at the South Florida Fairgrounds for the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction. This event showcases millions of dollars’ worth of beautifully restored classic cars.

Beyond the South Florida Fair
The South Florida Fairgrounds aren’t far from Royal Palm Beach Pines Natural Area, where you can enjoy the more peaceful surroundings of 350 acres that are home to white ibis, red-tailed hawks and great blue herons once the sights and sounds of the fair have tired your family out.

Just a little farther west of the South Florida Fairgrounds, lions, rhinos, zebras and giraffes roam the Lion Country Safari park. America’s first drive-through wildlife preserve, it allows up-close experiences often only found on African safaris.
