Tourism Industry Takes Over State Capital

Tourism leaders unite in Tallahassee to celebrate Florida’s $128 billion tourism industry and advocate for its continued growth

Florida’s tourism industry came out for Tourism Day 2025 at the state capital in Tallahassee to tout its $128 billion economic impact. Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB) was there representing our local partners.

The festivities brought together tourism leaders from Pensacola to Miami at Doak S. Campbell Stadium, where they heard jubilant addresses from state legislators, officials, and Governor Ron DeSantis. The event continued with meetings with state lawmakers and the debut of the Tourism Outdoor Expo.

Representing DTPB were President & CEO Milton Segarra, Senior Vice President of Marketing Erika Constantine, Director of Integrated Marketing Christine DeMichael, and Senior Director of Destination Stewardship and Civic Engagement Sergio Piedra. The team talked about the value of destination promotion and tourism’s $10.5 billion impact in Palm Beach County with Senators Tina Polsky, Lori Berman, and Mack Bernard; and Representatives Tae Edmonds, Joe Casello, Peggy Gossett-Seidman, and Anne Gerwig.

The Outdoor Expo happened right outside the capitol building. In a fun way, it showcased to everyone why Tourist Development Taxes/Bed Taxes are vital to driving Florida’s tourism industry.

Special thanks to our DTPB partners and friends – Munyon’s Paw-Paw – for joining us in our DTPB booth at the Expo. This locally made premium spirit, crafted from all-natural botanicals, is a refreshing aperitif. Munyon’s was wonderfully mixed with Prosecco and grapefruit soda to become “The Palm Beach Spritz” cocktail – creating a taste of The Palm Beaches!

Great appreciation to Destinations Florida, the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, the Florida Attractions Association, and VISIT FLORIDA for taking the lead in organizing a terrific Tourism Day. DTPB looks forward to being in Tallahassee next year to help celebrate tourism’s incredible impact on Florida and Palm Beach County.
