he Ben hotel in West Palm Beach is helping diners celebrate Mother’s Day with a special gift for the guests of honor. The hotel will be presenting Byrd Dewey’s famous sugar cookie as a parting gift, as well as a complimentary mimosa or glass of rosé wine with entrée, to all moms who dine at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Proper Grit, for brunch or dinner on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 9). Byrd Dewey was a legendary 19th century author, socialite and philanthropist whose Gilded Age West Palm Beach home, The Ben Trovato, is the namesake and design inspiration for the hotel. She was known for entertaining the infamous and influential from Woodrow Wilson to the Vanderbilts. All were said to enjoy her celebrated sugar cookies, resurrected and reimagined today by The Ben’s culinary team.

Café Boulud will kick off its Mother’s Day brunch festivities at 11 a.m. The iconic Palm Beach restaurant offers a flavorful three-course prix fixe menu for $125 per person ($55 for children under 12). Moms will enjoy the beautiful and charming outdoor courtyard of the Brazilian Court Hotel and food prepared by Executive Chef Dieter Samijn. Select your appetizer option from a list of Café classics complemented with spring flavors like chilled cucumber soup with shrimp, yogurt, red onion and mint; Key West pink shrimp with lemon and French cocktail sauce; or green asparagus salad with poached egg dressing, herbs and brioche. Featured entrees include Belgian waffles topped with strawberry, mint and rhubarb butter; grilled Mediterranean dorade with fennel, almond puree and citrus; or lobster Benedict with poached egg and Choron sauce. Another option to enjoy a meal in honor of your favorite moms is the three-course Mother’s Day lunch at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport in West Palm Beach. Lunch will be served from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 9 and will include a complimentary glass of house sparkling wine for all moms. International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington will be hosting Mother’s Day Brunch in The Veuve Clicquot Pavilion during an IPC Spring Series polo match on Sunday, May 9. Enjoy a delicious brunch spread and a complimentary glass of champagne while watching exciting polo. Moms will also receive a special gift. Doors open at 12 p.m. and the polo match starts at 1 p.m., rain or shine. The costs are $100 per person, $125 for a front-row upgrade and $55 per child 12 and under, plus $10 per car for parking. Breakfast ($35 per adult and $16 for children age 11 and younger) runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and features an attended buffet, with a selection of smoked seafood, assorted breads and pastries, stuffed French toast, buttermilk pancakes, and eggs Benedict. The Cornell Art Museum at Old School Square in Delray Beach offers an immersive contemporary art exhibit on any visit, but on Mother’s Day weekend (Saturday, May 8, and Sunday, May 9), the museum will be giving away a mini work of art, a paper flower, to each mother who visits. These flowers were made by artist and curator Melanie Johanson, who also created the “Winter Forest” installation on display in the museum. Walk through this room-sized fan favorite exhibit, which features an enchanting array of hand-cut paper animals and trees. Works by Sally Cooper, Michelle Drummond, Jill Hotchkiss, Tyler Levitez, Takashi Murakami, Pablo Picasso, Jonathan Rosen, Sonya Sanchez Arias, Brenda Zappitell and the costume designers from the Boca Ballet Theatre are also currently on display.

Moms visiting Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) in Juno Beach on Mother’s Day will receive a gift of planter seeds from simple culinary herbs like oregano, basil and cilantro. They will be available at greeter stations as you enter the center while supplies last. You can also give ocean-loving moms the gift of experiences. Reserve her a spot on an Evening Guided Tour for a behind-the-scenes look at the outdoor sea turtle hospital. The experience costs $20 per person, is available for ages 8 and up and is typically held Wednesdays through Saturdays at 6 p.m. Days and times may vary monthly so check the online calendar. Or, sign mom up for a Guided Turtle Walk, a unique program that allows visitors to learn about and observe the sea turtle nesting and egg-laying process. With the approval of State-issued permits, experienced LMC scouts patrol a designated section of Juno Beach in search of sea turtles, while visitors enjoy a presentation and view current patients in the turtle hospital. Once a loggerhead sea turtle is found and begins her egg-laying process, the group is then led down to the beach to witness this unforgettable experience. Held Tuesdays – Saturdays at 9 p.m. in June and July, turtle walks cost $22 per person (or $20 for LMC members) and is available for ages 10 and up.
