What makes this festival stand out from the rest?   Hector: We’ve been to many festivals across the US and Canada and this one is the largest with the most artists.  But what really makes this one stand out for me is how it is intertwined into the Downtown Lake Worth culture.  Lake Worth has the arts at its heart and this festival just wouldn’t be the same anywhere else.   Ken: This is our local festival, so family and friends can come and see us.  Its massive – one of the largest festivals of its kind – and it draws artists from all over the country.  

For first-time goers, any suggestions or tips?   Hector: Plan to stay the day.  You can’t just pop in and check out a few pieces. Your best bet is on Sunday, when the pieces will be most complete.  The festival gets over 100,000 people over the weekend so if you can avoid parking in Downtown Lake Worth, then do so.  There are several shuttles from Tri-Rail and other places that will get you there.   Ken: Leave your claustrophobia and social anxiety at home.  There are a LOT of people shuffling around those streets!   Downtown Lake Worth is a happening place, where do you like to go after the Festival?   Hector: We have a ritual that we have been doing for many years now.  When we finish a street painting, we reward our efforts with a nice cold beer and some chicken wings and there is no better place for wings in Downtown Lake Worth than Dave’s Last Resort.   Ken: My family loves Little Munich and Yama, but Dave’s Last Resort is a street painting tradition for us.  Post-festival, it’s time for a well-earned beer and a plate of chicken wings, “as hot as you can make them”!   Tell us about your favorite locations or things to do, which make The Palm Beaches a terrific place to visit?   Hector: My family and I like to throw down a blanket and have a picnic, listening to live music at the Sunday at the Meyer events as well as spending Saturday mornings at the GreenMarket.  CityPlace is our go to for restaurants and movies.  And of course, there is always a festival to go to, Garlic Fest, ArtiGras, Greek Fest, Seafood Festival, Fourth on Flagler, SunFest and of course The Lake Worth Street Painting Festival.   Ken: The Palm Beaches have so much to offer.  I love the outdoors, and The Palm Beaches offer some great nature trails, bike trails, and dog parks, as well as a lovely dog-friendly beach in Jupiter.  The Morikami Museum and Gardens, as well as Mounts Botanical Gardens, are favorites as well.  Of course, Downtown West Palm Beach is always exciting.  In addition to the Norton Museum, downtown has transformed itself into a giant outdoor museum, with murals adorning the sides of buildings and stairwells throughout the Clematis district.  My family also loves the Screen on the Green outdoor movies and rides on the trolley as well.
