In recognition of National Autism Acceptance Month, experience a new way to enjoy Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) with Sensory Saturdays.
Sensory Saturdays was designed for adults and children on the autism spectrum to enjoy a quieter, more inclusive time at the Center with their friends, families, and caregivers. Sensory Saturdays is a free program and is held on the first Saturday of each month at 9 a.m., before regular operating hours, with minimal crowds and sensory triggers.
During this hour, guests will be able to explore the outdoor hospital and the indoor exhibits in an environment with dimmed lighting and minimized sounds. Should guests wish to extend their visit beyond the hour of Sensory Saturdays, they have the option to checkout one of LMC’s sensory backpacks to continue their experience. These backpacks contain various tools including over-the-ear headphones, sunglasses, gloves, communication cards, and sensory toys.

Try exciting new ways to use paint and explore creative adventures in color and materials. Children ages 5 – 12, and their accompanying grown-ups, participate in a thematic tour, followed by a related art workshop.

The Cornell Art Museum, in collaboration with the City of Delray Beach Sustainability and Resilience Office, is hosting a full day of lectures, presentations, and art in honor of Earth Day and Earth Month. Topics will include Florida Habitat Restoration, Florida Corals, Plastics and Sea Turtles, Home Energy Ratings, Building Performance, Climate Action Planning, and more. All events are free, open to the public, and will take place at the Cornell Art Museum in Old School Square (51 N. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach).

Kyudo is a traditional Japanese practice that uses the act of shooting the Japanese bow for the cultivation of the person and the development of physical and mental wellbeing. It is now a worldwide practice that has both cultural and sporting aspects. Learn about the history of Kyudo and observe a demonstration of the Shaho Hassetsu, known as the Eight Stages of Shooting, explained by instructor Jade Fraundorfer.

Get your weekend dose of Vitamin Sea at The Seagate’s sunrise beach yoga class in Delray Beach. Held weekly on The Seagate Beach Club’s private beach, the 60-minute morning Vinyasa yoga flow class taught by Cocoyogi’s Corey Heyman will help build strength, stamina, flexibility, and concentration.
